Last night the 2014 Teen Choice Awards aired on Fox and millions of teens and tweens tuned in, excited to see their favorite stars walk the blue carpet. Surfboard shaped awards were doled out between performances but we were only paying attention to the fashion. Because crop tops and metallics are actually much more interesting to us than the Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, et al. But, again, the fashion was fun.

Below we’ve chosen the looks we actually loved and have stored in our mental banks for near-future style inspiration:

Aisha Dee's white dress looks so comfy- perfect for Celine slip ons and brunch.

For the Teen Choice Awards, Selena Gomez was a snooze but IRL? We'd wear that in a heart beat.

Free People’s latest look book is one part boho chic and one part sexy city girl, thanks to the brand’s newest campaign model, Candice Swanepoel. We love the styling- all the way from the over the top volume down to the embossed platform birkenstock-inspired slides.

The collection is right on time, too! Our Lariat necklace, made exclusively for Free People, looks stunning on the South African super model. Check out how Candice rocks the Lariat necklace, below, and head over FreePeople.com while they last!

Met Gala 2014: Standout Looks!

Sarah-Jessica-Parker-Met-Gala-2014

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual charity gala came and went like a whirlwind, and the stars really brought their A-game! Designers showed comradery by supporting their peers (i.e. Marc Jacobs wearing Saint Laurent.) Actors and musicians wowed in custom creations, some walking the carpet with the designers. However, the Victoria’s Secret models seemed to prove who does it best, wearing surprisingly stunning Top Shop and classic silhouettes (like Karlie Kloss in De La Renta, opera gloves and all.)

Being that this is THE fashion event of the year for Manhattan and, really, the fashion world, we appreciate over-the-top glamour. We loved seeing new silhouettes and color pairings, separates, and lots of volume. The Olsen Twins donned vintage Chanel, which was an unexpected twist that still offered lots of drama. Speaking of drama, we couldn’t keep our eyes off of Zac Posen’s room-filling gowns. Are favorites are Dita Von Teese’s neoprene nude and red fishtail gown and Liu Wen’s ocean waves.

Schiaparelli Spring Couture Show: Our Favorites!

_ARC0137.450x675

Oh, happy day. Not only is it MLK Day ( a day of huge importance that in no way is being played down by this post), but it’s also the first day of the Paris Couture shows. Starting today, we can enjoy a glorious 7 days of amazing, hand made pieces stomping the Parisian runways and providing countless hours of inspiration and envy.

Elsa Schiaparelli, aka the surrealist designer, Salvador Dali collaborator, and creator of “Shocking Pink” was known for creating awe inspiring, crazy pieces with bright colors and even a suggestively placed lobster. Now, after 60 years out of the Couture show circuit, designer Marco Zanini showed his (gasp, first ever) haute couture show to a crowd of who’s who, like Jean Paul Gaultier, and the response was resoundingly positive.

We are ALL ABOUT hand made goodness, so the Couture Shows are like our candy store of sorts. Every single piece that walked the runway was made by hand (no machines at all!) in the ‘Place Vendôme premises, the same spot where Schiaparelli held her crazy and dramatic “Circus” show in 1938.’ (NYT) Not to mention the amazing and weirdly wearable hats by milliner Stephen Jones and jewelry by the french designer Gripoix. Everything worked perfectly. Check out some of our favorite looks!

Menswear Trends We’re Loving!

Canali’s luxe layers of velvet and fur

We here at Cecilia Gonzales Jewelry really do love a good suit. There’s something about a well dressed man that makes us a little happy inside. With all the baggy clothes and crazy fads (some of which are cool and deserve their own shine), it’s refreshing when Men’s Fashion Week rolls around and puts a nice polish on things. We also are quite partial to men’s jewelry. Seeing the new shows always breathes new life into our men’s and unisex designs. This year is no exception.

A few details have been standing out to us- Fur, Velvet, and the updated Slim Suit silhouette. Considering it’s the Spring Shows, pretty much everywhere except for Miami is still expecting cold months. So, lush layers of soft velvet and warm fur are welcomed. The Slim Suit will never go away, which is good, so it’s cool to see new takes on the style, such as Fendi’s galaxy-eque print and Marni’s slouchy fit. See our favorites so far below.

The Golden Globes: Our Favorite Looks Of The Night!

Awards for deserving movies, like 12 Years A Slave, winning Best Drama are great. But give us the Red Carpet!

It’s safe to say that we here at Cecilia Gonzales Jewelry are fashion lovers. When we aren’t creating new pieces, we’re obsessively browsing fashion magazines and blogs because, well, why not? Fashion is fun and expressive, and when personal style is a factor, it totally can project someone’s feelings and personalities to the world. And that’s a great thing. What’s even better is when you throw in amazing couturiers, jewelers, and shoe designers. Oh, and teams of hair and makeup professionals.

Enter: The Golden Globes.

The 71st annual awards show was full of actors, musicians and writers, and lots of great Red Carpet moments. Below we’ve chosen a few of our favorites. We love the bursts of color and texture. Also, young designers like Charlotte Olympia and Proenza Schouler had their pieces on quite a few starlets, which is always great to see.
